Interceptor Health exists because the standard annual physical wasn't catching what the fire service actually needed it to catch. We built a program designed to close that gap — on site, on your schedule, for the whole crew.
How It Began
A screening ceiling, not a screening failure.
Interceptor Health is a team of medical professionals, clinical laboratorians, and medical industry business professionals whose mission is to engage with the fire and rescue community in identifying health issues that result from their unique occupational hazards.
Interceptor Health organizes and executes annual firefighter health assessment events as prescribed by NFPA 1582 — a safety standard outlining requirements for comprehensive occupational medical programs and annual physical health assessments for firefighters. These standards were developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and have been in use since 1992.
Interceptor Health's annual firefighter health assessments follow NFPA 1582's specified regimens by employing a series of diagnostic modalities — clinical laboratory testing, imaging, and others — to uncover key diagnostic indicators of developing health issues. All testing is done on site at the fire station, with results transmitted to our medical staff, who analyze the data and deliver individual counseling to the firefighter on the next appropriate steps. Further follow-up calls may be arranged if the department requests.
